Clothing art never exists alone. The light, the environment, the atmosphere, the floor, etc. will influence it to some extent. 

The suitable flooring may also add to the result of its presentation. Light-color environment with light color floor might create a relaxing and soft atmosphere. Or if you prefer the contrast of colors, light-color wall and deep color flooring will be a good choice. 

It doesn't matter whether it followed some "rules". Just follow your imagination and appreciation.
